TAV Airports ranked first on ISE...
In the third year after its initial public offering TAV Airports outpaced all ISE-listed companies and ranked first. ISS Corporate Services, one of the world’s leading corporate rating organizations, assigned a corporate governance rating grade of 9 out of 10 to TAV Airports.
ISS Corporate Services (ICS), one of the world’s most prestigious independent corporate ranking organizations, increased TAV Airports’ corporate governance rating grade to 9, which is currently the highest grade ever attained by Turkish companies. In the third year after its initial public offering, TAV Airports with this rating outpaced all companies included into the ISE Corporate Governance Index and topped the list.
TAV Airports Holding CEO M. Sani Şener informed that he was proud that in the third year after the initial public offering TAV Airports ranked first on the ISE with its corporate governance grade. Mr. Şener has emphasized that TAV adopted the principle of improving the shareholder value and said that this achievement was made possible only by robust corporate governance infrastructure. Mr. Şener said, “In Turkey, corporate governance is a quite new concept that indicates how transparent the companies are governed. There are only about 30 companies included into the index, in which TAV Airports headed the list this year. The researches reveal that the effective corporate governance policy has also a positive impact on the companies’ share performance and facilitates the management in making more robust decisions by reducing risks. This means that extensive application of corporate governance practices in Turkey will ensure sustainability and lasting success for the country’s economy.”
TAV Airports Holding Investor Relations Coordinator Nursel Ilgen said, “With each passing day, investors are placing more emphasis on the companies’ corporate governance practices. We perceive the works carried out in this field leastwise as significant as operational and financial achievements. TAV Airports is continuously conducting improvement and development activities in order to develop its corporate governance practices in accordance with the Corporate Governance Principles set by the Capital Markets Board of Turkey (CMB) and the grade assigned is reflecting these consistent efforts.”
In the year of the second assessment, TAV Airports, which was included into the ISE index in the previous year as the third company in the list, has increased its grade from 8.5 to 9 over 10 and in the second year after its inclusion into the index, managed to top the list. In this context, the results of the weight assessment applied to the four subcategories, namely shareholders, public disclosure and transparency, stakeholders and board of directors in accordance with the Turkish Capital Markets Board’s resolution on this subject are as follows:
